My Best Friend...

My best friend in the entire world had surgery the other day to hopefully control her diabetes and other medical conditions resulting from this disease. She had waited a long time to be able to have this in the hopes that she could get off the countless medications and lead a long healthy life.

While no one actually looks forward to surgery, I was cautiously excited for her because I knew how much this meant to her. She went into the procedure with great courage and optimism and handled it better than I ever could have. But of course, I would expect no less from her as she is fearless, knows what she wants and will go for it!

I am very proud of her for making this difficult decision, for looking at a lifetime of changing life-style habits and for ensuring that I have her around as my bestie for many more years. We might even be able to do another 1/2 marathon when she gets all better!

Congratulations and as the Mr. would say, "here's looking up your knickers!"
