Was This Wrong?...

So on Sunday I headed to church. For some reason I had gum in my mouth but by the time I remembered it was too late, no place to discard. As the mass progresses I began to try and figure out what I was going to do with the gum when I went up to receive Communion. I first poked around in my purse for a piece of tissue or anything like it to no avail. I then just figured I would move the gum to one side, take the host and keep it on the other side. Well, the plan failed! The gum and the host got all mixed up! I couldn't swallow the gum so I just held it in my mouth expecting to disgard as soon as church was over. Well as the mass goes on, the host begins to dissolve and before I knew it, the gum was just gum and I had swallowed the host as it melted. I'll try and remember not to do that again! Not only did I feel it was disrespectful, I was consumed with a plan and not on the word.

I did learn that I was to remove malicious speech from my mouth. This was one of my New Year's resolutions, to not speak ill of my work. It's been quite a challenge and if anyone who works with me knows that I have failed on keeping this resolution many times! Since it was mentioned in the reading this past Sunday I feel inspired to work on this issue again. Wish me luck!
