Got Trash?
So it was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a garage sale that is! Colonial Hills community garage sale with over 77 homes participating. My friend Kim and I spent the later part of Fri. hauling everything out to the tables in preparation for the crowds to arrive bright and early Sat. morning. We had lots of stuff to sell including those hot dogs (previously frozen of course) left over from the winter skating party.
Sales were slower than expected so not much cash to splurge on a vacation! Kim earned enough to purchase her new fan that she so desperately wanted and needed. I guess my expectations were a bit higher then hers in terms of profit. Next time I'll know to lower my expectations so as not to be so disappointed!
Anyway, the best part of the day was working with my husband to clean out our attic, enjoying the company of my friend for the entire day, visiting with neighbors and relaxing in the sun.
The most unexpected part of the day came when a couple of women expressed interest in the '95 jeep, took it for a spin around the block and bought it! Although I was very sad to see it leave the family, as Dominick said, "it was time".
So everything that I thought would sell in a heart beat didn't, the wires and plugs that I had no idea what they went to ended up being hot items. All items remaining went to Goodwill. I kept to my promise that nothing was returning back into the house once entered into the sale! It felt good to part with it and to clear a path in the attic!
With that being said, I guess the old adage "one person's junk is another person's treasure" holds true!
