What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

When I was a kid I wanted to be either a school teacher or a nurse. I played "school" every day with my dolls and stuffed animals. When I got older I began reading books in which the main character was a nurse and was convinced that is what I would be. I also dreamt about being a figure skater, I wanted to be just like Peggy Fleming, the most beautiful skater to grace the ice.

As I sit at my desk, not teaching, not nursing and certainly not figure skating you can see that not one of those dreams ever came true. So now I think about new dreams of what I would like to be when I grow up...a photographer, a world traveler, a whale-watcher, a chef. It's not likely that I will ever leave the comforts of my home to pursue these dreams, but maybe I will explore some as new hobbies and feel like I did grow up and achieve some of my dreams!

  1. I never remember really thinking about what I wanted to be when I grew up. We played Wagon Train..Maybe at one point I entertained being a mystery novelist. I think I have finally found my niche though. In a way you are definitely a teacher and a nurse (wiping a lot of noses) and if not a figure skater then a juggler. LOL

  2. I too believe that in many many ways you ARE a teacher and a nurse. You have been there for broken hearts, attended to me numerous times I've passed out, and taught me some of the greatest lessons in life!
