The history of Father's Day dates back to 1910 when a women named Sonora Smart Dodd decided to recognize her father for the sacrifices he made while raising her as a single parent. In 1926, a National Father's Day Committee was formed in NYC. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June.

Sunday, June 21 will be the day I honor my father, my father in-law in heaven and my children's father who are all such special, caring and great men in their own ways.
