Reflection

The year 2008 brought about some significant changes in the lives of the Mazza family. The passing of my father-in-law in September brought tears of sadness and tears of joy as we knew his pain and suffering had ended and that he was now in a better place. His last message to those left behind was that "Jesus is alive" and with that knowledge there is no fear in death. A simple yet profound statement made by a man who lived an extraordinary life. He will be missed by us all, but we have so many great memories that he will live on forever in our hearts.
We give thanks to our employers who have thus far enabled us to be gainfully employed. Given the state of the nation, it is truly a blessing to be able to get up every morning and go to work. A simple pleasure for us but a pleasure denied to many. We are thankful even for work that takes some to parts of the country unknown! i.e. the state of Washington
We are thankful for our family and friends. There is no better feeling than to be able to count on our friends and family members when going through tough times or to share an exciting moment in life. Being surrounded by my close and extended family provides great solace.
As I prepare to ring in the new year, I will vow to continue to appreciate the small things in life and not to fret over the things that are not of my control. I look forward to 2009 with great optimism and hope that you do too!
